Who We Are
We are brothers and sisters in Christ…called “Methodists.”
Locally, we are the congregation of the Mountain View United Methodist Church —a church in Cottonwood, Arizona, that has served Cottonwood and the surrounding Arizona communities for over 100 years.
The United Methodist Church has congregations in Arizona, throughout the United States and across the world totaling approximately 12.5 million followers in 33,000 churches with the common goal of putting faith in action by making disciples of Jesus Christ for transformation for the world.

What We Believe
We believe:
- There is one Holy God
- Jesus Christ the Son of God, is our Lord. Jesus lived on earth and died on the cross for our sins. His body was resurrected and ascended to heaven to be with the Father. He will come again one day to judge all mankind according to how each individual has believed in Him.
- God reaches out to us in comfort, love and guidance through the Holy Spirit.
These beliefs are often cited as the Apostles’ Creed.
Additionally, the United Methodist Church practices two sacraments that draw us closer to God— baptism and communion. Baptism is entry into the universal church of Christ. Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper, is remembering our covenant with God through Christ.
With these beliefs and sacraments as the foundation, we strive to glorify God and grow His kingdom on earth by applying three principles to the worship and ministry of Mountain View United Methodist Church:
Living God’s Word — through study, we learn the Word of God and applying it to our lives
Led by the Spirit —through prayer and by “listening to God,” we are able to show his will through our actions
Loving All in Christ’s Name—we serve in His name we show love, compassion and care for others through many
