Holy Humor Sunday-Are you Awake?
Many American churches are resurrecting an old Easter custom begun by the early Greek Christians --- "Bright Sunday" or "Holy Humor Sunday" celebrations on the Sunday after Easter. For centuries in all Christian faith traditions, the week following Easter Sunday was observed by the faithful as "days of joy and laughter" with parties and picnics to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Join us this week as we continue in this tradition.
There is no written manuscript or sermon note for this week.
Message Summary: "Are You Awake?"
Based on Acts 20:7–11, this lighthearted message reminds us that even in Paul’s time, people fell asleep during sermons—one young man, Eutychus, even fell from a window and had to be revived! Through personal stories and historical examples, the speaker encourages us not to feel ashamed of nodding off in church. Instead, it’s a reminder that we’re all human—and even God seems to have a sense of humor about it.
